The project is a proposed solar photovoltaic renewable energy development on agricultural land c. 15 km west of Goulburn, NSW. The proposed project capacity is approximately 400 – 600 MW, which would generate enough power for over 254,000 average NSW homes, providing significant greenhouse gas emissions savings of over a million tonnes every year.
Stakeholder consultation and environmental assessment activity are now well underway for the Parkesbourne Solar Farm. Being assessed as a Major Project under the NSW planning system, the project will be evaluated by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE). The first steps in that process have now occurred, including the submission of a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) and the receipt of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) assessment guidelines (known as Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs)).
Studies to inform the EIS are underway in parallel with stakeholder consultation.
